Today Toyota unveiled of the Toyota Entune multimedia system at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Toyota Entune system uses the driver’s mobile phone to offer fully integrated and upgradeable entertainment, navigation and information services.
By downloading the Toyota Entune mobile application with a Bluetooth capable phone, customers can access a variety of personalized content and services, all of which are wirelessly upgradeable to ensure content is never out-of-date. Applications featured on the Toyota Entune include: Bing, iheartradio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable.com, and Pandora. Other included services provide location-based information on traffic, fuel prices, stocks, weather and sports.
Toyota Entune’s entertainment and communication system includes XM radio, HD Radio, CD player, USB connectivity, Bluetooth streaming and phonebook. Entune features a best-in-class, conversational voice recognition system that eliminates the need to memorize thousands of voice commands. The system also includes support for read-back and replay capabilities for text messages.
Through Entune’s voice recognition and in-vehicle controls, the driver doesn’t need to reach for their mobile phone, allowing for safer connectivity. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety says that drivers who use hand held devices are four times more likely to get into accidents serious enough to injure themselves. On July 15th, a new law in Nebraska took effect which bans texting while driving. The Toyota Entune system should help eliminate distracted driving while allowing drivers to stay connected in their vehicles.
