In Nebraska, summer is always an anticipated time of the year, it means nice weather to drive and roll those windows down, however, summer time does mean new types of maintenance for vehicles that often go overlooked. Here are a few tips from Performance Automotive that will help keep your vehicle running and looking like new.

1. Make sure that your vehicles antifreeze/coolant are full to help prevent overheating in the heat of summer.
2. Check how tight the serpentine belt is. If it is loose it will not provide the proper power to your A/C compressor as well as your alternator.
3. Test your battery, often people think more batteries fail during the winter when in reality most batteries will fail during hot weather.
4. Always keep up to date on your oil changes, if you are over do on an oil change take it into a service center and have the oil and filter changed.
5. Make sure your tires are at the correct pressure, in summer heat the tires may loose pressure and this can decrease the life of your tires as well as decrease gas mileage.
6. While on those long summer vacation trips make sure to give you and your vehicle a rest, avoid  over working your vehicle and keep and eye on the temperature gauge
7. Try to park in the shade, even if it means taking a parking spot a little farther, remember its summer it is nice to be outside!
8. Keep your interior cleaned with a conditioning cream such as armor all to keep the dash, weather strip, and other parts from cracking in the heat, .
9. If you drive a vehicle with a leather interior keep it conditioned with leather condition to preserve the softness of the leather.
