Volkswagen may be giving you more to love about your favorite vehicles in the next few years with some environmentally- friendly, energy efficient makeovers.
Here is what you should watch for:
- An all-electric version of the Volkswagen Up, the E-Up, is making its way to the U.S. by 2013. The Volkswagen Up has been popular in Europe since 2007. This mini car offers you excellent performance for up to 80 miles on a single charge. It will be available in both two-door and four-door hatchback styles, making it an excellent family car.
- The VW BlueSport Roadster is expected to hit Nebraska showroom floors as early as 2012. This lightweight performance vehicle will sport a 2.0 liter 180 horsepower diesel engine. Its lightweight design is expected to give this vehicle over a fuel economy rating of over 50 mpg.
- The Volkswagen Golf is currently offered in a TDI clean diesel model, giving you great mileage and performance. An electric version is expected to be produced in 2013.
- The Volkswagen Jetta has been redesigned for 2011, with a focus on more American tastes. Volkswagen was able to lower manufacturing costs, lowering the base price to better compete with other cars in its class, such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
- VW is in the redesign process for the New Beetle, making it more of a practical coupe by combining the Beetle’s excellent performance with more passenger and cargo room to provide an even better driving experience.
- The Volkswagen Touareg, which is currently offered in gasoline and diesel models, will be available as a hybrid in early 2011. The new Touareg Hybrid will improve fuel economy 40 percent over the current gasoline Touareg.
- The Volkswagen Tiguan is scheduled for a redesign for the 2012 model year. This performance-driven SUV is rumored to be gaining a seven-seat variant with the redesign.
